Inpatient Service

This is a hospital-based clerkship rotation, involving daily work and attending rounds. Responsibilities include following two to three patients at any one time. This includes history and physical examinations, daily progress notes, ordering of appropriate labs and diagnostic tests. The medical student may take call with a senior resident which is approximately two nights per month.

Outpatient Rotation

This is a hands-on rotation. The medical student will evaluate patients regarding pertinent history and physical examination. Prior to staffing a patient student, they will develop a differential diagnosis, diagnostic and laboratory plan and treatment plan. In addition, they will attend medical conferences daily.
