How do I get started with the Travel Nurse Team at UnityPoint Health?

Travel RN applications are now being accepted on our website for positions in emergency departments, intensive care units, med/surgery, telemetry and labor & delivery/obstetrics.

I've applied for a travel nurse position with UnityPoint Health. What happens next?
Once your application is received, it will be reviewed by a recruiter. If your interests and qualifications align with the position, a nurse leader will contact you to schedule an interview.
How long are travel nurse assignments?

Travel nurse assignments traditionally last 10 to 12 weeks. Assignments may be extended under certain circumstances, such as if there is a continued need by the region.

Where will I travel to as a UnityPoint Health travel nurse?
At UnityPoint Health, we believe you should have choices. That’s why we offer a tiered travel structure that allows you to choose the locations and pay tier that best fits your goals and lifestyle. 

When considering your travel locations, you can choose between our Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Dubuque, Fort Dodge, Madison, Quad Cities, Sioux City and Waterloo regions. As an added perk, pay increases based on the number of regions you travel to. You could also qualify for incentives and a stipend! Connect with a recruiter to learn more.
Are travel nurses eligible for overtime?
Team members on the Travel Nurse Team may have the opportunity to pick up extra shifts. If a team member’s hours worked exceeds 40 hours per week, they will receive overtime pay.
Is a stipend provided to cover expenses during an assignment?
Yes, nurses who are part of the Travel Nurse Team will receive a stipend to cover expenses related to lodging, meals and incidentals during their assignment. Team members will have the flexibility to decide where to stay during the assignment and can take advantage of certain discounts, including those for hotels.
How is the travel stipend calculated?

Travel stipends are based on the duration of the travel assignment and are paid every two weeks throughout the assignment. More specific information will be provided during the interview process.

Is the travel stipend tax-free?
Yes, the stipend from UnityPoint Health is tax-free. The travel nurse keeps track of travel assignments for their records.
How will I be paid while working on a travel nursing assignment?
Travel nurses at UnityPoint Health will be paid every two weeks by direct deposit. Direct deposit is the most convenient way to access your pay no matter where you’re traveling. 
Are travel nurses eligible for health benefits?
UnityPoint Health travel nurses will be eligible for our full benefits package unless they apply for a PRN position.
Are travel nurses eligible for bonuses?

While many outside travel agencies contract travel nurses for specific assignments and various employers, travel nurses employed by UnityPoint Health are eligible for full benefits and pay, as well as additional financial incentives, bonuses and discounts. Can I take time off between travel assignments?
Earning Paid Time Off (PTO) as a travel nurse is one of the many benefits at UnityPoint Health. Team members can request PTO when it is convenient for them and approved by their supervisor.
