Volunteers

UnityPoint Health - Trinity volunteers are an engaged group dedicated to helping provide exceptional health care to the Muscatine community. Volunteer services strives for a positive and meaningful volunteer experience. As a volunteer, you are also included in Friends of Trinity, a group with a mission to support UnityPoint Health – Trinity through volunteering and donations.

Ways to Volunteer

Hospital team members request volunteer assistance based on specific departmental needs. Opportunities exist during all times and at all our locations, but the majority of positions occur during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Service Areas

Calling Committee
Volunteers recruit within the membership for help with special events. 
Day of Surgery
Volunteers provide a welcome and comfortable waiting experience to a patient’s family/ support persons while they're in surgery.
Friends of Trinity Newsletter
Assist with the quarterly publication of the newsletter by compiling the materials and sending to the printer.
Hospital Information Desk
Guide and assist patients and guests of UnityPoint Clinic® – Mulberry and UnityPoint Health® -Trinity Muscatine.
North Port Clinic Information Desk
Guide and assist patients and guests of UnityPoint Clinic® North Port - Family Medicine & UnityPoint Clinic Express Care – North Port.
Project Planning
This quarterly committee works closely with Trinity Muscatine leaders to help Friends identify, research, recommend, and coordinate future projects, services, and/or purchases. The committee reports to the Friends’ Executive Board.
Projects & Special Events
There are a variety of projects and events that occur throughout the year from distributing plush toys to pediatric patients and awarding scholarships, to book fairs, mum sales and raffles.
Trinity Muscatine Grounds Beautification
Planting and caring of flowers and plants on the Muscatine and Wilton hospital and clinics. 
Window Box Gift Shop
A non-profit gift shop operated by the Friends to support Trinity Muscatine projects. No sales tax is charged. One or two volunteers operate the shop in shifts of two to three hours. Window Box management is under the direction of several volunteers. Services include account management, purchasing, pricing and display, inventory management, marketing, and staffing.

Membership Information

Annual Friends membership begins September 1 and ends August 31. The following types of memberships are available:

Active
Members participate in the projects and services of their choice.
Junior
Members, age 16-18, serve actively on one or more Friends services.
Associate
Members will not be asked to participate in projects or services but are welcome to do so if they desire.
Life
Life Membership of $150 is payable over a two-year period. This payment exempts the member from further payment of dues. Life members’ names are engraved on leaves placed on the Recognition Tree on display in the hospital. Life members may participate in services of Trinity Muscatine Friends as they wish.
