- When did you start working at UnityPoint Health? I started working for the health system in 2011. I couldn't imagine working anywhere else!

- If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? Taking my kids to Hawaii is at the top of my list.
- What are some causes you care about? The Iowa Donor Network is a cause that’s near and dear to my heart. My sister donated a kidney to our father in 2015 and saved his life. I’m proud to support the Iowa Donor Network by raising awareness for organ and tissue donation.
- What are you passionate about? I'm passionate about "people experience" - whether it's as a patient, family member, team member or provider. People will always remember how you made them feel regardless of the situation or outcome.
- What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given? The first 100 years are the hardest. This piece of advice was passed down from my husband's Great-Great Grandmother who lived to be 107 years old.
- What is the most inspiring part of your job? I take pride in recruiting top performing healthcare professionals to care for my family, friends and community. It’s inspiring to think about the number of lives each provider impacts and it fills my bucket to hear a positive patient story about a provider that I’ve helped.

- Why do you love working for UnityPoint Health? I love working for UnityPoint Health because Unity Point closely aligns with my personal morals and values. I truly feel that everyday I make a difference in the lives of our patients and my colleagues through my interactions and my daily work.
- When did you start working at UnityPoint Health? I started working for UnityPoint Health in the Fall of 2021. I supported the lab by drawing blood for inpatients, outpatients, same day surgery, ICU, and the emergency department. I joined the Provider Recruitment team in November of 2022.
- What region(s) do you recruit for? I recruit for the Siouxland region.
- If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? My wife and I are outdoor enthusiasts, so we love to hike and look for picturesque destinations. My ideal "destination" would be a road trip that included as many state and national parks along the way.
- What are some causes you care about? What are you passionate about? My wife and I are passionate about Noah's Hope, an animal rescue in the Siouxland area. Our dog Gracie was a rescue from Noah's Hope; she really is the sweetest girl. We also support the Histiocytosis Association, which impacts the lives of those who battle rare disorders, specifically Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH), a cancer that has touched our lives before. We believe that through their research and clinical trials, LCH and other Histiocytic disorders can be cured.
- What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given? "Take care of your people, and they'll take care of business."
- What is the most inspiring part of your job? It is inspiring to be the connection that links high-quality care providers with a health organization that is passionate about caring for the patient and their staff. I am fortunate to be directly impacting the quality of care that this organization delivers by aligning top talent with the Siouxland area.

- If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? I just did it! Germany, Austria, and Greece, but I guess if I had to choose a new destination now that I've seen those places; I would have to say Italy and the South of France.
- What are some causes you care about? What are you passionate about? April and I really like to support the ARL (Animal Rescue League) here in Des Moines, but my family is close to an organization called Love Takes Root that has done a lot of great things for children in Haiti and around the world through providing of medical aid, education, and the seeds for a sustainable future.

- What is the most inspiring part of your job? As recruiters we get to help healthcare professionals achieve their goal of working for an organization that really cares about them, and the patients that they care for. The inspiration is two-fold: we get to help make a difference for the healthcare providers and the community of patients they care for.

- What is the most inspiring part of your job? I love that my work has both present and future value. Today's students are tomorrow's providers and I enjoy knowing that I play a part in ensuring patients receive great care.

- What are some causes you care about?I have a soft spot for rescue animals. Here in the Quad Cities, I follow the local No Kill Animal Shelters. I donate as much as I can, drop off old towels/supplies, and share the animals that need a good home on Social Media. I wish I could adopt them all.

- What are some causes you care about? What are you passionate about? I am very passionate about Pediatric Cancer. My son and I collect toys every year during the holidays for Children with Cancer or life threating illnesses. They are given to children that are going through painful procedures, birthdays, holiday spent in the hospital, or milestones they have met. I also love to stay involved in my community by being on the City Council, Park Board and our town celebration.
- What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given? We never know what someone is going through or what they're struggling with. We can make a huge difference simply by being kind and compassionate.
- What is the most inspiring part of your job? Meeting Providers and their families and getting to share the great things we have to offer. We don't just fill positions we find the right fit for the patients and the team.

- What is the most inspiring part of your job? When I hire a really great provider who the community and team members appreciate. A provider who makes a difference in the community and to the patient population. We rarely hear the stories after they start working, but when we do, it's inspiring!

- What are some causes you care about? What are you passionate about? Much to my husband's displeasure I love to DIY! I am currently giving my bathroom a facelift and building a buffet cabinet with my dad. I am not great at it but drawing and painting is also something I enjoy, especially when I do it with my sisters and aunt.
- What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given? I know it is not very original but it still stands true to treat others the way that you want to be treated. I try to keep in mind that we are all on a different journey in life and it doesn't take very much effort on my part to give someone a smile and to treat everyone with kindness.
- What is the most inspiring part of your job? It is hard not to feed off of the anticipation and eagerness of the providers as we approach their start date. It is revitalizing to try to see it through their eyes.

We volunteer with at-risk girls in the juvenile system and with girls at YESS (Youth Emergency Shelter and Services).

There is so much discussion nationally about clinician burnout, and I'm passionate about ensuring that we create an opportunity for people to find joy in their work. Working in health care is a privilege, and I'm passionate about connecting people to what matters to them.

- What are some causes you care about? What are you passionate about? I have a passion for community efforts focused on adverse childhood experiences and resilience. Specifically, Connections Matter is a national program, developed in Iowa focusing on the importance of every day connections and the power of relationships in our brain health and development. When individuals thrive, our community is stronger.
- What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given? Before a high school swim meet, my dad stuck a laminated copy of Roosevelt's "Man in the Arena" in my swim bag. Close to 20 years later, I still carry the same note in my purse every day. It reminds me to always try, no matter "victory nor defeat" to achieve better not just for yourself but for others.
- What is the most inspiring part of your job? Having a background in higher education, I will every now and then see a new provider joining UnityPoint that I may have met on their first day of college. (Rather than fret about my age) I am reminded of their path and the dedication it takes to reach such a goal. It is inspiring to think of great achievements yet to come in their work!

- If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? I've always wanted to travel to Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand.
- What is the best piece of advice you've ever been given? "Work smarter, not harder." I recently had to visit the outpatient PT clinic and my provider would say this frequently. I feel like it applies to so many areas of life. Utilizing proper techniques, technology, and resources as well as researching new skills and best practices helps keep your body happy and your life/workflow more efficient.
- What is the most inspiring part of your job?As the wife of a healthcare worker, I remember the excitement and nerves that can accompany a new rotation. As such, I really enjoy helping the students get everything ready for their clinicals and wishing them well. By choosing to become a healthcare worker, these students are choosing to serve their community and it brings me joy to assist them during this exciting time of their development.
