Allen Hospital Residency Program

2022-2023

AJ Dollmeyer, PharmD is originally from Polo, Illinois. He attended Augustana College in the Quad Cities where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry. He recently received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in May 2022. His current professional interests include infectious disease, cardiology and critical care. Following residency, AJ is contemplating a PGY2 residency next year and long-term plans to obtain a clinical pharmacist position at a community hospital.

Kassidy Lawler, PharmD is originally from Burlington, Iowa. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in May 2022. Her current professional interests include infectious disease and emergency medicine. Kassidy hopes to obtain a clinical pharmacist position in the area following her residency. Go Hawks!

Logan Mougin, PharmD is originally from Bettendorf, Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa where he received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2021. Prior to residency he worked in the Chicago area in a community/compounding pharmacy. His current professional interests include critical care, infectious disease and pain management. He hopes to obtain a clinical pharmacist position in Iowa or Illinois.

2021-2022

Crystal McElhose, PharmD is originally from Hinton, Iowa, near Sioux City. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Iowa in May 2021. Her current professional interests include cardiology, infectious disease, internal medicine and anticoagulation management. She is looking forward to providing confident and compassionate care to her patients, while building upon her leadership skills and clinical knowledge and judgement. Following residency, Crystal accepted a position with UIHC Children's Hospital.

Clayton Miller, PharmD is originally from West Salem, Wisconsin. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Colorado in May 2021. His current professional interests include critical care, infectious diseases and pharmacogenomics. Clayton is moving back to Colorado following residency and looking for a clinical position in the Denver area.

2020-2021

Ashraf (Ash) Amadou Pharm.D. is originally from Benin in West Africa . He attended Bloomfield College in New Jersey where he received a minor in mathematics and a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and biology. He recently completed his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from South Dakota State University. His current professional interests include cardiology, infectious diseases, hospital administration, critical care, and pain management. Following residency, Ash plans to pursue a board certification and is contemplating a PGY2 residency.

Hannah Hemry, Pharm.D. is originally from West Union, Iowa. She attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in May 2020. Her current professional interests include cardiology, internal medicine and critical care. Following her residency, Hannah took a job with UIHC in Iowa City.

Karli Welter, Pharm.D. is originally from Gilbertville, Iowa. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in May 2020. Her current professional interests include cardiology, oncology, and critical care. Karli accepted a job with MercyOne hospital in Waterloo. 

2019-2020

Brittany Faley, Pharm.D. is originally from Johnston, Iowa. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in May 2019. She was part of the inaugural Palliative Care Certificate program offered at the college of pharmacy. Following her PGY-1, Brittany completed a PGY2 residency in pain management and palliative care at the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center.

Morgan Jacks, Pharm.D. is originally from Waverly, IA. She completed her undergraduate studies in math and biology at Wartburg College. She attended the University of Iowa where she received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree and a Palliative Care Certificate in May 2019. Her professional interests include palliative care, pain management, critical care, and academia. After residency, Morgan accepted a position with University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a clinical pharmacist in the Clinical Cancer Center/ Ambulatory Pharmacy.

Zach Lynch, Pharm.D. is originally from Charles City, Iowa. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in May 2019. His current professional interests include critical care, hospital administration, and internal medicine. Zach is now a clinical pharmacist with Allen Hospital.

2018-2019

Grayson Meunier, PharmD is originally from Lake in the Hills, Illinois. He attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa where he received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in May 2018. His professional interests include cardiology, infectious disease, and critical care. Following his residency, Grayson accepted a position with UnityPoint Health – Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Nicole Schaberg, PharmD is originally from Stillwater, Minnesota. She attended South Dakota State University where she received minors in both biology and Spanish, a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Her year-long resident project evaluated the use of intravenous morphine in the setting of acute pain and implanted a ketamine protocol. Nicole completed a PGY2 residency in pain management and palliative care with the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System in Little Rock, Arkansas. Nicole is currently located in San Antonio, Texas at the Brooke Army Medical Center.

2017-2018

Julia Fifield, PharmD is originally from Naperville, Illinois. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in May 2017. Her current professional interests include critical care, infectious diseases, pediatrics, and practice management. Following her residency, Julia accepted a position as a staff/clinical pharmacist in the emergency department at Allen Hospital and is a preceptor.

Jordann Kunkle, PharmD is originally from Sioux City, Iowa and received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in May 2017 from the University of Iowa. Her professional interests include infectious disease, critical care, cardiology, and emergency medicine. Following her residency, Jordann accepted a pharmacist position with University of North Carolina.

2016-2017

Michael Jacobsen, PharmD, MBA is originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Business Administration from Drake University. His professional interests include critical care, cardiology, infectious disease and internal medicine. His year-long residency project was a trial to evaluate the hospital's vancomycin protocol for obese patients. After completion of his residency, Michael accepted a position with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics as a pharmacist and plans to become a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist, serve as a clinical pharmacist, and precept students.

Jacob Peterson, PharmD received his Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in May of 2016. He is originally from Waterloo, IA. His clinical interests include critical care, emergency medicine, and infectious disease. His project over the course of his residency year at Allen was to focus on the proper indication and benefits to proton pump inhibitor therapy for patients concurrently receiving multiple antiplatelet agents. Following residency, Jacob accepted a position to remain on staff at Allen Hospital and is precepting the infectious disease residency rotation.

2015-2016

Janice Bueter, PharmD is originally from Leopold, MO and received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in May 2015 from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her professional interests include oncology, rural care, and academia. Janice's residency project was to create a CPOE template for chemotherapy orders. Upon completion of her residency, Janice accepted a position with Southeast HEALTH in Cape Girardeau, Missouri as staff/clinical pharmacist. She also helped to establish a PGY1 residency program at their institution.

Nupur Chopra, PharmD, MPA is originally from Olympia Fields, Illinois. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy and Master's in Public Administration in May 2015 from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Her professional interests are in anticoagulation and critical care. Nupur's residency project was to create a risk stratification tool for pharmacists to use while evaluating QTc prolonging medications. Nupur accepted a position with Allen Hospital as a staff/clinical pharmacist in the emergency department and will continue to work with the residency program as a preceptor. She also plans to pursue her board certification as a pharmacotherapy specialist.

2014-2015

Anita Cheruvillil, PharmD, MPH, BCPS received her Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Public Health degrees from the University of Iowa in May 2014. She is originally from Urbandale, Iowa. Her professional interests include internal medicine, emergency medicine, and critical care. Anita's residency project evaluated use of post-op pain medication in general surgery patients. Anita is a clinical pharmacist in a hospital setting near Chicago, Illinois.

I-Chau (Emily) Liang, PharmD is originally from Iowa City, Iowa and received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from The University of Iowa in May 2014. Her professional interests include diabetes, anticoagulation, and oncology. She is also interested in teaching and conducting research. Emily created a pharmacist guided procalcitonin monitoring program as her residency project, which was implemented. Emily is working in sterile compounding at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She further intends to pursue her PhD in pharmacoeconomics.

2013-2014

Beth Acevedo, PharmD is originally from Ottumwa, Iowa. She received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Creighton University in May 2013. Her professional interests include infectious disease and oncology. Beth's residency project evaluated guideline adherence for Surgical Care Improvement Project antibiotic selection. Beth is employed by the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa as an inpatient pharmacist.

Adam Wilcox, PharmD, BCPS is originally from Waverly, Iowa and earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in May 2013. Adam's professional interests include anticoagulation, diabetes, COPD/asthma, heart failure, hypertension, and hyperlipidemia. His residency project was an evaluation of medication reconciliation in an outpatient physician clinic. Adam is currently employed with UnityPoint Health following a staff/clinical position with Covenant Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Adam is a residency preceptor and is currently developing additional elective opportunities.

2012-2013

Brenda Riesenberg, PharmD, BCPS is originally from Carroll, Iowa and received her Pharmacy degree with a Diabetes Concentration from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa in May 2012. Professional interests include diabetes mellitus, infectious disease, and general medicine. Brenda's residency project was "Development and Implementation of a Tech-Check-Tech Program". Allen's Tech-Check-Tech program is one of the few in the state. After completing her residency, she accepted a position with UnityPoint Health - Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Andrew Washburn, PharmD is originally from Marion, Iowa, and received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in May of 2012. Andrew's professional areas of interest include diabetes, infectious disease, cardiology and anticoagulation. Andrew's residency project was "Implementation of a Pharmacist-Managed Heart Failure Clinic". He accepted a position with Allen Hospital's Anticoagulation Clinic and precepts the residents in their longitudinal experience in the clinic.

2022-2023

Christine Chang, PharmD is originally from Chicago, Illinois. She attended the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology in 2018 and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree in May 2022. Her current professional interests include diabetes, asthma/COPD and chronic disease state management. She hopes to obtain a position as an ambulatory care pharmacist in Illinois or Iowa.

Kalyca Nardy, PharmD is originally from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She attended Iowa State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics. She recently received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from University of Iowa in May 2022. Her current professional interests include cardiology, diabetes and anticoagulation management. Following residency, Kalyca hopes to obtain a community-based or ambulatory care pharmacist position somewhere in the Midwest.
