Preceptor Bios

Nupur Chopra, PharmD, MPA

Nupur joined Allen Hospital in July 2016. She graduated from Drake University College of Pharmacy with a PharmD and Master's in Public Administration in 2015. She completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Allen Hospital from 2015-2016. She obtained a teaching certificate through the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2016. She is a member of antibiotic stewardship committee. And she is currently a preceptor-in-training for the residency program. Her professional interests are in emergency medicine, critical care, infectious disease and anticoagulation.

Christopher Clayton,  PharmD, MBA

Regional Director of Pharmacy

Chris received his doctorate degree in Pharmacy from the University of Iowa in 2000 and his MBA from the University of Iowa in 2009. Chris has been the Director of Pharmacy at Allen Hospital since June of 2000 and the Director of Pharmacy at Finley Hospital in Dubuque since May of 2013. Chris has also served at Allen as the Patient Safety Officer and managed DME and Digestive Diseases for Allen. Chris has participated in numerous performance improvement initiatives with a background in FMEA, Lean and Adaptive Design. He is currently a master teacher in Adaptive Design at Allen. Chris has been recognized by the IPA for his leadership in the State and was selected for the annual leadership conference in 2008. Chris and his wife Jennifer own and operate Clayton Drug, two independent community pharmacies in rural Iowa and together have five boys.
    

Natalie Hunter, PharmD, CDE

Natalie joined UnityPoint Health – Waterloo in 2012. She graduated from University of Iowa College of Pharmacy with her PharmD in 2010 and completed her PGY-1 community pharmacy residency with Hy-Vee in Iowa City the following year. She completed her Certified Diabetes Educator certificate in 2012. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, precepting introductory practice experience students. Her pharmacotherapeutic interests include diabetes and mental health.

Amy Kacher,  PharmD

Amy joined Allen Hospital as a full-time staff/clinical pharmacist in 2001. She graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2000 and completed a Pharmacy Residency with emphasis in Family Medicine at Northeast Iowa Family Practice Center in Waterloo, Iowa in 2001. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor for the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, precepting an Acute Care rotation for APPE students. She, along with her co-workers, received the Hospital Preceptor of the Year award from the University of Iowa in 2008. Professional interests include cardiology, anticoagulation, emergency medicine and critical care.

Jeff Martin, BS

Jeff joined Allen Hospital in 1981. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 1981. He has held various leadership positions in the pharmacy department and is currently the Clinical Pharmacy Manager. He has been involved in the formation of almost all of the clinical programs in the pharmacy. He is currently the secretary of the P&T committee and is a member of a number of multidisciplinary committees in the hospital. He is also a member of various UnityPoint system committees including the pharmacy application formulary subcommittee and Willow User committee. His passion is infectious disease and precepts an infectious disease rotation.

Beth Nichols, BA, PharmD

Beth has been with UnityPoint Health – Waterloo since 2005. She graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2001 with a BA in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She went on to the University of Iowa where she received her PharmD in 2005. She is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Iowa where she precepts General Hospital APPE students. She, along with her coworkers, received the Hospital Preceptor of the Year award from the University of Iowa in 2008. She is also the preceptor for the Palliative Care/Hospice rotation for the PGY1 residency. Professional interests include pain management, hospice, palliative care and geriatrics.

Jacob Peterson, PharmD

Jacob received his Doctorate of Pharmacy degree from the University of Iowa in May of 2016. He is originally from Waterloo, IA. He joined Allen Hospital following his residency year. He is chair of the antibiotic stewardship committee. Also, he is currently a preceptor- in- training for the residency program. His clinical interests include critical care, emergency medicine, and infectious disease.

Tim Schneider, PharmD

Tim joined Allen Memorial Hospital in 2011. He graduated from University of Iowa College of Pharmacy with his PharmD in 2005. Tim is the pharmacy liaison for the Pediatric Medical Service Committee and the OB/GYN Medical Service Committee. Professional interests include pediatrics, diabetes management, and patient medication counseling.

Linsey Schuldt, PharmD, BCGP

Linsey joined Allen Hospital in 2004. She graduated from University of Iowa College of Pharmacy with her PharmD in 2003 and completed her general pharmacy residency with an emphasis in family medicine at Northeast Iowa Family Practice Center in Waterloo, IA the following year. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of University of Iowa College of Pharmacy, precepting an Acute Care rotation for APPE students. Her pharmacotherapeutic interests include internal medicine, long-term care, and geriatrics.

Lisa Veit, PharmD, BCPS

Lisa joined Allen Hospital in 2007. She graduated from University of Iowa College of Pharmacy with her PharmD in 2005. She then completed her general pharmacy practice residency at Alegent Health- Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, NE the following year. She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor with the University of Iowa - College of Pharmacy, precepting a General Hospital rotation for APPE students and hosting IPPE students on their hospital experience. Her pharmacotherapeutic interests include critical care, infectious disease and emergency medicine.

Andrew Washburn, PharmD

Andrew joined Allen Hospital as a full-time anticoagulation clinical pharmacist in July 2013. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2012. He completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Allen Hospital from 2012-2013. He precepts APPE and IPE students and enjoys teaching pharmacy students, providers, and nurses. Professional interests include anticoagulation, cardiology, infectious disease, emergency and critical care medicine. He anticipates teaching classes at a college of pharmacy. He also plans to create an APPE rotation with focus in outpatient clinical care in the future.

Barry Westbrook, RPh

Barry joined Allen Hospital in 1999. He graduated from North Dakota State University College of Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Sciences with his Bachelor of Science degree in 1992. He is currently the Rural Affiliate Coordinator for the pharmacy department overseeing two critical access hospital pharmacies. His current professional interest is sustainability of the critical access hospital pharmacy and rural healthcare and precepts the rural care elective.

Adam Wilcox, PharmD, BCPS

Adam joined Allen Hospital as a clinical pharmacist in 2016. He graduated from the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy in 2013 and completed his PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Allen Hospital from 2013-2014. He is an adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Iowa College Of Pharmacy and enjoys teaching and precepting students. His professional interests include anticoagulation, diabetes, COPD/Asthma, and infectious disease.
