Hear it from an employee...

"The most exciting/rewarding aspect of my work as an OT in Pediatrics at UnityPoint Health - Meriter is when I know I have really helped a parent to feel more capable and confident in supporting their child's well-being. When a parent lights up and expresses joy about their child's newly gained skills, or their own ability to help their child feel better, it is a wonderful experience to have helped in that way. This can happen in the pediatric clinic with a family receiving outpatient care for a child who is struggling, or with a family whose newborn is in the NICU, and they feel they don't know what to do to help their fragile infant. Anytime a parent moves from feeling helpless in caring for their child to knowing they have tools to nurture their child's development, it is a joyful transformation. These moments are deeply rewarding and always affirm my gratitude for the opportunity to serve as a developmental therapist in Pediatrics at UnityPoint Health - Meriter." -Juelaine D.
