Employment FAQ

Q: I will be graduating soon and should have my professional license issued soon. When should I start applying for positions?

A: You do not have to wait until graduation to apply.  If you are chosen for a position, we may extend a contingent offer of employment, which would include graduation and a valid professional license as a contingency that would need to be satisfied prior to your beginning employment.

Q: I am on the Direct Care Worker Registry in the state where I currently live. Do I need to be on the Iowa Registry too?

A: Yes. People working in the following jobs need to be active on the Iowa Direct Care Worker Registry: Patient Centered Care Tech 2, Mental Health Tech, Telemetry Tech, C.N.A. and Home Care Aide. In addition, Home Care Aides may also need to be on other state registries if they provide services to patients in states other than Iowa.

Q: Can I work in more than one job or department at Finley?

A: Yes, there are certain rules that apply though. Sometimes people may work in two different positions in order to receive benefits. For example someone may work two different part time jobs that equal a full time position that offers full time benefits. Call Human Resources at (563) 557-2751 if you have specific questions on this.

Q: I applied for a job but never got notified that I wasn't selected. Why not?

A: Verify that the email address on your application is correct since the application system sends notifications if you are not selected for a particular position.  You may also sign into your application account and click on "submitted applications" to make sure the job you applied for is listed there. If you can't see it there, then it was not successfully submitted. 

Q: I can't remember my password. Can someone reset it for me?

A: For security reasons, we are unable to unlock your account or change your password. If you get locked out of your account, you will remain locked out for about an hour. There is a password reset option you may also try. We can provide you with your login name if you forget that, but if you are unable to reset your password you will likely have to establish a new user account. Please make sure you always keep your login information in a secure location for future use.

Q: Can I fill out a general application for employment for you to keep on file?

A: No. The only way we are notified that an applicant is interested in employment is if you fill out your application for a specific job posting.  So if you are interested in a food service position but no openings exist at that time, you can check back periodically and apply as positions are posted.

You can, however, fill out the application so that it is ready. Then once positions are posted just add the job(s) to your cart and apply for those jobs. Always make sure to go under "submitted applications" to make sure they were successfully submitted. 

Q: Do I need to do that Test Source survey every time I apply?

A: No. Applicants only need to complete that survey once every year. Registered nurses who already work at Finley do not need to complete it.
