The Neonatal Core Curriculum  Series spans three weeks.

  • Week 1: Newborn Foundations
  • Week 2: Care of the Neonate 1
  • Week 3: Care of the Neonate 2

This class provides an essential foundation for any nurse or clinician who is new to providing care for newborns.

Newborn Foundations focuses on physical assessment; complications while transitioning to extrauterine life; late preterm considerations; breastfeeding and pumping; neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS); developmental care basics/non-pharmacologic pain management; preparing families for discharge, and an overview of car seat safety.

Applicants who  cancel less than 7 days prior to class or fail to attend at all, may not be eligible for a refund or for credit on a future training date. Please call the Mother/Baby Care Administration office at 608.417.7491 (M-F) daytime hours or e-mail msn_perinataleducation@unitypoint.org with any questions you have.
