UnityPoint Health provides interpreters and auxiliary aid support items at no cost to patients and/or their caregivers who do not speak English and for individuals with disabilities. Providing these services for individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and individuals with hearing, vision, language, speech, or cognitive impairments ensures equal access and participation in healthcare treatment and education.

UnityPoint Health does not discriminate, exclude or treat people differently based on an individual’s ability to pay; on the basis of whether payment for services would be made under Medicare, Medicaid, or CHIP; or on the basis of race, color, creed, ethnicity, culture, language, sex, national origin, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, diagnosis, source of payment for care, marital or parental status, veteran’s status or any other protected class in any manner prohibited by federal or state laws.

Available Interpreter Services

UnityPoint Health offers video, audio, phone, and in-person interpreting services for individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and individuals who are Deaf. We will provide all the necessary equipment and make all arrangements when needed. Access to an American Sign Language interpreter is available 24/7 via video interpreting. 

Auxiliary Aids Support Items

To ensure effective communication for individuals with disabilities, UPH provides a variety of auxiliary aids and services at no cost to patients and/or their caregivers. As an example, we provide items including but not limited to: qualified readers, reader glasses, communication boards, magnifying cards, voice amplifiers, hearing aid batteries, writing utensils, written or large print materials (as available), TTY/video relay service, select captioning services and other items by request.
