Financial Assistance
At UnityPoint Health, we’re here for you every step of the way. Our health system provides patient care to a growing number of uninsured and underinsured patients. Patients are responsible for a greater burden of their healthcare costs through growing out-of-pocket deductibles many health insurance plans, including Medicare, have implemented. Many patients also lack the financial resources to secure health insurance.
UnityPoint Health has financial policies to seek fair and equitable payment from patients based on their ability to pay. We also assist patients who can’t reasonably pay for some, or all, of the care they receive.
Once you complete a financial assistance request, it will be routed to our Financial Assistance team for evaluation. During review, our team creates a case to track the status of your request and communicate with you. For patients with MyUnityPoint accounts, you will be able to view what items have been received, what is outstanding and where your application is in the approval process.

Request Financial Assistance Using MyUnityPoint
MyUnityPoint allows you to request financial assistance online, submit an application and receive messages regarding the status of your application.
To request financial assistance through MyUnityPoint, complete the following steps:
- Login to MyUnityPoint
- Choose UnityPoint Health Financial Assistance from the main menu. Please note, minors will not have the Financial Assistance option in their MyUnityPoint profile but can be added by the parent/guarantor when requesting financial assistance.
- Enter details about your household, income, expenses and assets
- Submit/upload all required documents
- Review your answers, fill out the Financial Assistance Application, sign and click Submit

Our Patient Financial Counselors help patients navigate financial challenges related to their care. They provide guidance on our Financial Assistance Program and assist with Medicaid applications and Marketplace (ACA) enrollment. To speak with a financial counselor, please call the number listed below for your location. Our financial counselors cannot answer general billing questions.
