If you plan to breastfeed your baby, we encourage you to register for this two-hour Breastfeeding class. You will discuss essential information on how your body produces milk, what an effective latch looks like, how to know if your baby is feeding well, the basics of expressing your milk, what to expect during the beginning of your breastfeeding journey, and what support resources are available once you've been discharged from the hospital.
Our Lactation Services team encourages you to bring your support person with you to the Breastfeeding class. A supportive partner positively impacts breastfeeding success and should learn about the breastfeeding process alongside you.
Breastfeeding classes are held at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Methodist West Hospital, and UnityPoint Ankeny Medical Park. Please take note of which location you have registered for.

Class may be cancelled due to low enrollment, inclement weather, or other unforeseen circumstance. If this should happen, you will be notified by e-mail and/or a phone call and given the opportunity to register for the next available class.
