Community Commitment at UnityPoint Health - Grinnell Regional Medical Center

The well-being of our communities is important to all of us. We are proud to be your community hospital and privileged to serve our patients and their families. As part of our mission to improve the health of the people and communities we serve, we strive to provide exemplary health care as well as health education and screenings to the public.

EMS Scholarship

The UnityPoint Health - Grinnell Regional Medical Center medical staff voted in 2022 to fund a scholarship for emergency medical service (EMS) students or services in Poweshiek County and surrounding areas. The GRMC medical staff recognize the critically important role local EMS holds for the overall health and well-being of our local communities and the struggle these vital services are facing.

"Our patients, families and communities rely on quality emergency medical services, and we realize the challenge these healthcare partners are facing," says Michael Line, MD, chief medical officer at GRMC.

The scholarship will allow for up to $750 of reimbursed cost to a student affiliated with local EMS or local EMS departments upon completion of an authorized EMS training program. New and existing EMS volunteers are encouraged to apply.

Additional information can be obtained by contacting GRMC administration at (641) 236-2300 during regular business hours.

Quality & Innovation

One of UnityPoint Health – Grinnell Regional Medical Center's strategies is to create a culture that emphasizes constantly improving quality, safety and service excellence in a measurable way, serving as a model for hospitals nationwide.

Our board of directors and administration have set a priority to advance major quality and patient safety initiatives and improved communication programs. Our patients and families know our organization is fully committed to patient safety, a strong leader in the community and a safer choice for themselves, their families and loved ones.

At UnityPoint Health we want to give every patient the best outcome, every time. One of the ways we try to always get better is by looking at quality and patient satisfaction information you give us. In every area of our health system we have teams that dig into the numbers and read about the best way to make your visit with us better; we call this best practice or evidence-based practice.

We are happy to provide this information so you can easily compare our care with other providers. We work to surround you with a compassionate care team whether you are receiving care in the hospital, at a clinic or at home.
