Why Choose St. Luke’s Orthopedics?
- State-of-the-Art Equipment: The orthopedics team at St. Luke’s uses state-of-the-art equipment and has advanced training to perform robotic-assisted surgery. St. Luke’s was the first hospital in Cedar Rapids to acquire and use robotic technology, leading the way in robotic-assisted procedures since 2005. In fact, St. Luke’s has educated and trained surgeons on robotic equipment.
- Joint Academy Program: Another unique feature to St. Luke’s Orthopedics is our Joint Academy. Patients undergoing joint replacement surgery are automatically enrolled in this educational program, which provides resources to help them prepare and walks them through the recovery process every step of the way.
- Faster Recovery, Less Pain: At St. Luke’s, patients are encouraged to be active the same day as their surgery. This approach has demonstrated better outcomes, helps reduce pain and decreases stiffness, allowing patients to recover faster and return to their normal activities sooner.
- Private Recovery Rooms: Depending on the type of surgery, patients may go home the same day or be admitted to the hospital post-surgery. This is based on various factors and determined by the surgeon and care team. If an overnight stay is required, St. Luke’s has large, private rooms with a bathroom to support a safe, comfortable and healing-focused recovery environment.
