Welcome to the Center for Perinatal Care

The Center for Perinatal Care is a collaborative program between UnityPoint Health - Meriter and UW Health that accepts referrals for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a full range of complex medical, obstetric, fetal and genetic conditions that complicate pregnancy, birth and the newborn period. For three decades, our mission has been to optimize each family's chances of delivering a healthy baby.

The Center for Perinatal Care offers:

Maternal-Fetal Medicine Services: Consultation to discuss care options for high-risk pregnancies

High Risk Perinatal Clinic: Primary or co- management prenatal care for high risk pregnancies

Diabetes in Pregnancy Program: Specialized diabetes education and management before,during and after pregnancy

Prenatal Diagnostic Center: Advanced fetal ultrasounds, screening and diagnostic testing, and fetal care coordination

Genetic Counseling: Consultation to discuss testing options and risks to a pregnancy

Perinatal Palliative Care Program: Palliative and bereavement care for pregnancy and infant loss

The Center for Perinatal Care utilizes a one-room model of care to combine the best in specialized prenatal medical care and advanced technologies to care for the pregnant woman. The Birthing Center is an advanced tertiary care center for mothers and babies. The Newborn Intensive Care Unit is equipped to care for high-risk infants whether they are born at Meriter or transported from a regional hospital. Birthing center tours and classes led by expert educators, help expectant parents learn about and become confident with childbirth and newborn care.
