Reserve your emergency room spot online.
Life's surprises don't make appointments, but you can. The next time a minor illness or injury has you thinking about a trip to the Emergency Room, reserve your spot in line, online. You can avoid potentially long wait times and crowded waiting rooms by selecting a time that's convenient for you and wait from the comfort of your home.
If your symptoms worsen or you believe you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the emergency department as soon as possible.
Not a guarantee
We will do our best to see you as close to your check-in time as possible, but if there are sicker patients ahead of you, we must treat them first.
ER Check-in Frequently Asked Questions
Is my reservation time a guarantee?
No, it is not. The hospital will do its best to see when you arrive, but if there are sicker patients ahead of you, they may be seen first.
What does this service cost?
Nothing. It is absolutely free for patients.
Can I use ER Check-in even if I do not have insurance? What about Medicare or Medicaid?
ER Check-in is free for everyone. It does not matter what insurance you have or whether you do not have any.
What happens if I'm late?
There is a 15-minute grace period. If you are later than that time frame, you may lose your spot in line.
What if I make a reservation, and then start feeling a lot worse?
If you are feeling worse, do NOT wait for your reservation. Go to the ER immediately. If you feel that your condition is 'life threatening,' call 911 right away. Click here to see more information about what is considered a 'life threatening' emergency.
When I arrive, will I see a doctor right away?
You will be seen by a healthcare professional that will evaluate your condition and decide on the best course of action for you. A nurse, physician, physician assistant, or some other combination of healthcare professionals may see you.
I don't need to go to the ER anymore. How do I cancel my reservation?
Call St. Luke's Emergency Department: (319) 369-7105, and tell them that you are canceling your ER Check-in reservation.
I made a reservation, but now I cannot get there on time. Can I adjust my time?
Simply go online and make a new reservation. The system will automatically cancel your old one.
