The Problem: Unintentional Childhood Injury
Unintentional injury is the number one cause of death among children ages 19 and under in the United States. Each year, one out of every four children needs medical attention for an unintentional injury.
The Solution: Safe Kids
Safe Kids Greater Des Moines is one of more than 400 grassroots coalitions in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico that bring together health and safety experts, educators, corporations, foundations, governments and volunteers to educate and protect families. Safe Kids Greater Des Moines is a member of Safe Kids Worldwide , a global network of organizations dedicated to preventing unintentional injury. We know our efforts are needed because as many as 90 percent of unintentional injuries can be prevented.
Who We Are:
Safe Kids Greater Des Moines is a diverse group of individuals and agencies who strive to prevent unintentional injuries from occurring to children ages 19 and under. Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of death to children in this age group, and we work to keep Greater Des Moines' children from becoming statistics.
Blank Children's Hospital serves as the lead organization, lending support to help the group accomplish their goals related to childhood injury prevention in the Greater Des Moines area.
