Pediatric Inpatient Unit
General Pediatrics Unit
The General Pediatrics Unit has 23 private rooms and is located on the third floor of Blank Children's Hospital. We provide comprehensive family-centered care for patients from infants to adolescents. Children in need of general medical and surgical care, as well as specialty care, are admitted to this unit, which spans Blank Children's third and fourth floors.
The health care team handles the initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and long term follow-up for children of all ages. Education is designed to meet the needs of every patient and family.

- Pullout beds in each room for parents or caregivers to stay overnight.
- Room service with special meal selections just for kids.

Hematology/Oncology Unit
The Hematology/Oncology Unit is located on Blank 4 at Blank Children's Hospital. We provide comprehensive family-centered care for patients and their families, from infancy through adolescence. Children in need of cancer treatment and care or hematology care are admitted to this unit.

- Comprehensive health care team, including pediatric oncologists, hematologists, nurses, pharmacists, child therapists, dietitians, care managers and social workers.
- Pullout beds in each room for parents to stay overnight.
- Room service with special meal selections just for kids.
- Private bathrooms with showers in each patient room.
- Family lounge with play space for visitors.

Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is located on the second floor of the nortin wing of the Iowa Methodist Medical Center/Blank Children's Hospital campus. The PICU is a 12-bed, all private-room facility that is staffed by pediatric critical care doctors. The intensive care team helps care for critically-ill or injured infants, children and teens.

- 12 single-patient rooms with lots of storage and space, including a private bathroom and shower.
- Family Consultation Room where the health care team can meet with families to discuss their child’s plan of care.
- Family Lounge with a kitchenette and comfortable seating for family members to have a space to spend time outside of their child’s room.
- State-of-the-art design with equipment easily accessible from a ceiling boom and features that allow staff to monitor patients efficiently and act quickly as needed.
- Patient and family-centered environment with a pull out bed and reclining chair for families, privacy curtain, two televisions and an individual sound system.
