Pediatrics

Blank Children's Pediatrics, a hospital outpatient department of UnityPoint Health – Des Moines – Iowa Methodist Medical Center, offers a primary care office and medical home for patients from birth to 21 years. Our pediatricians are here to listen and partner with you for all your child's ages and stages, from newborns and toddlers to children and adolescents. This includes well-baby checks and well-child exams, sports physicals, illnesses, immunizations and other medical needs for children.

As part of the national Reach Out and Read program, our patients (from 6 months to 5 years old) receive a free book upon each well-child visit.

We are also a residency teaching clinic, which means medical students and residents work alongside experienced staff pediatricians as part of their training.

If Your Child is Sick

You are encouraged to call your child's clinic with any health-related questions. During normal clinic hours, your care team is available to speak with you. After hours, you will be connected to a health information service staffed by registered nurses and pediatricians on call who will answer you questions and help coordinate the care you need.
