Community Benefit

UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's is committed to improving the health of the people of Siouxland.

As a not-for-profit hospital, we offer community benefits, including financial assistance, uncompensated care and programs focused on bettering Siouxland's health and medical services, giving people improved access to care.

Every three years, St. Luke's conducts a health needs assessment for the community it serves. Through this process, health needs are identified and health priorities are set.  St. Luke's latest community needs assessment can be viewed by clicking here or you may call (712) 279-3636 for a copy to be mailed to you. A copy of our community health improvement plan is also available.

St. Luke's is pleased to provide healthcare education events, health improvement programs, free publications and support for community non-for-profit organizations whose missions are similar to ours. Our staff members also serve as an extension of our outreach program, giving back through volunteer work.

In 2012, St. Luke's provided more than $25.7 million in charity care, community benefit and other uncompensated care and taxes.

To plan for the future, UnityPoint Health - St. Luke's Foundation identifies and invests in vital health improvements as does Children's Miracle Network whose continued focus is on improving children's health care at St. Luke's. To ensure there are qualified health care professionals ready to care for you tomorrow, St. Luke's College - UnityPoint Health offers associate degree programs in nursing, radiology and respiratory care, certificate programs in medical laboratory science and phlebotomy and clinical pastoral education.
