Where to Go for Care

If you have a serious or life-threatening medical emergency, call 911 immediately. For immediate help with a mental health crisis, including suicidal thoughts, call 988.

We know it can be frustrating when you or a loved one isn't feeling well. Please be kind. We want to get you better as soon as possible. We're doing our best, so you can feel your best.

Our walk-in clinics are experiencing very high-demand which can create extended wait times. Before seeking walk-in care, please check with your primary care provider for same-day appointments or, for patients located in Iowa, get care at home using UnityPoint Health online care.

Virtual Urgent Care

Primary & Pediatric Care

If you have a non-urgent health concern and would like to talk to a primary care provider, please call your clinic during normal business hours or use your MyUnityPoint patient portal to see when a video, telephone or in-person visit can be scheduled.

We've expanded our primary care and pediatric services at select clinics to include scheduled visits over the phone or by video. We've also launched a new texting platform which creates a virtual waiting room for appointments that require a clinic visit.

Urgent & Emergency Care

When to seek urgent care: When you have an illness or injury that is not life-threatening but still requires fast attention, find an urgent or express care near you. This can include infections like influenza, sore throat, sprains or minor cuts and burns.

When to seek emergency care: For serious or life-threatening health issues, call 911 or go to the emergency room immediately. This can include chest pain or heart attack symptoms, sudden or sever head pain, loss of consciousness, poisoning, uncontrolled fever or other potentially life-threatening conditions.

Urgent and emergency care teams work hard to best serve you. If you must wait, please be understanding. Our team members always strive to treat everyone with kindness, respect and give their full attention to your personal needs.

Virtual Care

Access convenient care options that fit your schedule and needs. Connect with a UnityPoint Health provider online using MyUnityPoint's Virtual Urgent Care or SmartExam online screening tool from your mobile phone, tablet or computer for patients 18 years and older located in the state of Iowa

Virtual Urgent Care - Virtual Urgent Care is available for individuals 18+ who are located in Iowa. Through a video visit, Virtual Urgent Care providers can diagnose, recommend treatment and prescribe medication for minor illnesses.

SmartExam - SmartExam is an online screening tool for individuals 18+ who are located in Iowa that allows them to be treated for common ailments and illnesses in less than an hour without seeing a provider. This intelligent tool asks you questions based on your provided symptoms and answers to previous questions.

COVID-19 Care or Testing

If you have respiratory symptoms including fever, cough and/or difficulty breathing, and you have had contact with a person with COVID-19, please call your doctor before visiting a medical facility. You'll go through an assessment over the phone, which will help protect others from possible exposure to the virus.

UnityPoint Clinic continues to experience extremely high volumes of sick patients and requests for COVID-19 testing especially at our walk-in care sites. To better serve you:

  • During the week (Monday - Friday), patients are encouraged to check with your primary care provider (PCP) before going to a walk-in clinic like Urgent Care or Express.
  • As always, if you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the emergency room.
