Prepare For Having a Baby
As your prepare for having a baby, we have documentation for you to view and/or print if you would like.
While you are in the Hospital, Please Ask your Visitors:
- At this time, only one support person is allowed during labor and delivery.
- Not to use cell phones while visiting you in your Birthing Suite
- To refrain from visiting between 1 to 2 p.m., as this Quiet Hour, a chance for moms and babies to get the rest they need
- If your visitor has the flu or cold symptoms to visit another time when they are feeling better
After Having a Baby
Immunizations and Your Baby
If your baby will be covered under Title 19 Benefits, private insurance that does not cover immunizations, or you have no insurance to help with this expense, and his/her doctor is located at one of these offices: Tri-State Family Practice, Grand River Medical Group - Family Practice or Grand River Medical Group - Pediatrics, you will need to call the Dubuque Visiting Nurse Association to schedule an appointment for their immunizations. Please call (563) 556-6200.
Your child's first set of immunizations are due at two months of age. Please call the VNA before your child is two weeks of age to have them scheduled for their first set.
Information on Domestic Violence
WIC provides federal grants to states for the following: supplemental foods, health care referrals, nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.
The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) in Dubuque's Maternal Health program assists with the maternal health and well-being of an expectant mom. This program is able to provide education and assistance with health needs, breastfeeding and more.
