Parenting Classes

UnityPoint Health - Grinnell Regional Medical Center is excited to offer in-person and virtual classes to assist moms/caregivers throughout their journey. Check out what opportunity works best for you!

  • Prenatal Classes and Breastfeeding Classes are available in person; visit the Classes and Events page to sign-up.
  • Online Childbirth Education Classes are shorter in length and are great for moms/caregivers who may want a refresher. These classes are available due to our relationship with Blank Children's Hospital and their Kohl's Cares partnership. 
  • Online Injoy Classes are also available and include the following:
    • Narration, videos, and animations

    • Quizzes, interactive exercises, notes pages, and extended activities

    • PDF library, glossary, and web links

    • Class completion certificate

    • Detailed reporting of progress and completion

Babies Room Parenting Classes

Grinnell - Light Center for Community Health

3rd Tuesday and 3rd Thursday of the month, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Grinnell Regional's Babies Room provides incentives and educational programs to women who are pregnant or who have a child less than 3 years of age. Our intent is to provide support for women to care for themselves as they raise healthy children.

Earn free child merchandise/items for good parenting and care of your infant and toddler. Talk to our representatives about how you can enjoy this service for moms, infants and toddlers.

Breastfeeding Education

Grinnell - East Tomasek Room, GRMC

GRMC has a certified lactation counselor who will offer a 1.5 hour course that focuses on breastfeeding. The course will address those first two hours after delivery, teaching your baby to suck, tips on milk production, reducing barriers experienced when breastfeeding and returning to work, nutrition and birth control for mothers nursing and much more.

Prenatal/Childbirth Classes

Preparation for a baby involves education on what to expect, what happens in your body, how to care for yourself and your baby after delivery, breastfeeding and so much more. This class is split into two weeknight sessions. All classes are held in the Tomasek Room, GRMC.

3rd Monday of the month – 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Grinnell - Light Center for Community Health

3rd Tuesday of the month – 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
4th Tuesday of the month – 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
