President and Chief Executive Officer
Vermeer became Chief Executive Officer in January 2016. Vermeer was named President of UnityPoint Health in March 2015, in addition to his title of Chief Strategy Officer. Vermeer most recently served as Executive Vice President, Chief Strategy Officer and UnityPoint Health Partners CEO.
He formerly served as CFO for UnityPoint Health – Trinity in Rock Island, Illinois and Interim CEO of UnityPoint Health – Trinity in Muscatine, Iowa. Vermeer also worked for UnityPoint Health – Waterloo and at Sister of Charity hospitals in Colorado Springs and Denver, Colorado. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Nebraska and a master's degree in management from New England College. He is a member of the Healthcare Finance Management Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Senior Vice President, Insurance Division
Chief Executive Officer, Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation
Caraway joined UnityPoint Health in July 2014, as Senior Vice President, Insurance Division & CEO, Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation (PPIC). Caraway is responsible for the Insurance Division of UnityPoint Health, which includes Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation and the Accountable Care Organization – UnityPoint Accountable Care.
Prior to joining UnityPoint Health and PPIC, Caraway spent 14 years in various leadership roles with Optum, a $37 billion technology and services division of UnitedHealth Group.
His most recent role as the Senior Vice President for Member Acquisition and Retention , focused on developing and executing new growth strategies that enable health plans in effectively targeting, acquiring and retaining customer relationships through integrated platforms, analytics, service and consulting solutions. He has a proven track record in Fortune 30 employers, benefit consultants, managed care organizations and hospital systems and provider groups.
Caraway earned his bachelor's degree from California Polytechnic State University.
Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Carpenter transitioned to the role of Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer in January 2017. Prior to this, he served as CFO for UnityPoint Health – Dubuque at Finley Hospital. While there, Carpenter also created a shared analytics and business development team between two UnityPoint Health regions, Dubuque and Waterloo. All told, he's served the health system for more than 15 years in numerous roles. Carpenter has a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and a master's degree from St. Ambrose University. He is a member of the Healthcare Finance Management Association and the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Senior Vice President, Corporate Integrity and General Counsel
Drake joined Iowa Methodist Medical Center (now UnityPoint Health – Des Moines) in 1986 as general counsel and has served in his current position with UnityPoint Health since the position's inception in 1995. He also has served as Compliance Officer for UnityPoint Health since 1997. Prior to joining Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Drake had nine years of experience in civil litigation and corporate law. He received his juris doctorate from Drake University Law School, and in 1991, he completed the Stanford Executive Program in the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University.
Vice President, Supply Chain Management
Johnson became Vice President, Supply Management at UnityPoint Health in 2012. He began his health care career at UnityPoint Health – Sioux City in 1987 and remained there for 25 years, serving as CFO from 2000 to 2011. Johnson also recently served as the Interim COO for UnityPoint Health Consolidated Services, from 2010 to 2011. He received his bachelor's degree in math and finance from Hillsdale College in Hillsdale, Michigan. Johnson is an active member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.

CEO, UnityPoint at Work
Jones became Vice President, Payor Innovation for UnityPoint Health in 2013, providing leadership and strategic direction for system-wide payor strategies, relationships and practices to support the UnityPoint Health value-based care model. In March 2015, Jones also assumed the role of CEO of UnityPoint at Work, a new organization from UnityPoint Health designed to meet the unique needs of employers and third party administrators. Prior to joining UnityPoint Health, he served as Senior Vice President, Business Development for Health to You, LLC, a subsidiary of HCA in Nashville, Tennessee. He holds a bachelor's degree in management from St. Louis University and a master's in business administration from University of Dallas. Jones is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Healthcare Finance Management Association.
Vice President, Treasury
Kirschner joined UnityPoint Health in 2013, after spending 14 years in investment banking with Morgan Stanley and JPMorgan. Prior to working in the banking sector, he spent four years at Ernst & Young in management consulting. He received his bachelor's degree in psychology from the University at Albany and a master's degree in business administration from the Columbia Business School.
Vice President, Strategy and Business Development
Lehr became Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for UnityPoint Health in January 2017. In this role, Lehr leads the formation and deployment of system strategy, innovation, project management and business development efforts. Lehr previously led the strategy and business development for UnityPoint Clinic, driving synergy between system and clinic efforts. Lehr is also a fellow in the Health Management Academy.
Lehr holds a bachelor's in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Cornell College, a master's of health administration and a masters of business administration from the University of Iowa.

Vice President, Chief Analytics Officer
McVay is Vice President, Chief Analytics Officer for UnityPoint Health and works with a team that's located across the UnityPoint Health footprint, including Madison, Cedar Rapids and Des Moines. While she splits her time in three different cities, she calls West Liberty, Iowa home. Her passion for using data and information to improve care quality, efficiency and experience has supported the system's focus on analytics maturity. Under McVay's leadership, her team focuses on mastering the use of both descriptive and predictive analytics, which has helped position UnityPoint Health in the top decile for performance measures. Her work prioritizes partnering with clinical and business leadership to solve today's health care challenges. McVay earned her Master of Health Administration and Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University.
Mary Ann Osborn
Vice President, Care Transformation
Osborn, MARO, joined UnityPoint Health as Vice President of Care Transformation in December 2015. She is responsible for the deployment of T.H.E. Care Model and other related care transformation strategies across all sites of care. She is also responsible for leading, directing and fully deploying the core competencies that fundamentally transform the models of care, which support the unique individualized needs of customers, patients and families.
Prior to this role, Osborn served as Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer at UnityPoint Health – Cedar Rapids and held roles in administration for St. Luke's Hospital since 2002. During her tenure there, she was passionate about the integration of clinical practice and performance improvement and led large-scale change, such as an electronic medical record conversion. Osborn's professional achievements include leading St. Luke's Hospital to Magnet Designation (2009) and contributing to Iowa Recognition for Performance Excellence Gold Award (2010). She received her BSN from McVey University and her master's in nursing at the University of Iowa, with an emphasis on executive leadership.
Senior Vice President, Talent and Marketing Communications Officer
Porter became Vice President of People Excellence for UnityPoint Health in 2011. For seven years prior to that, she served as Director of Human Resources for UnityPoint Clinic, where she oversaw human resources, physician recruitment and communications. In her current role, Porter oversees system-wide human resources functions and marketing and communications, prioritizing the connection between culture and brand in both team engagement and overall communications strategy. Porter holds a bachelor's in business administration from the University of Iowa.
Chief Pharmacy Officer
Robb, RPh, MBA, became UnityPoint Health Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO) in March 2017. In this role, Robb develops and leads a transformative system pharmacy structure, designed to improve patient care. Specifically, Robb oversees improving medication management, care coordination and the clinical and financial performance of pharmacy services across UnityPoint Health.
Most recently, Robb served as Director of Pharmacy Services at UnityPoint Health – Meriter. Robb's career also includes six years in various pharmacy leadership roles with Ascension Health. Additionally, his professional experiences include three years as a Pharmacist Consultant with Joint Commission Resources, pharmacy leadership roles with Ministry Health Care in Wisconsin and executive positions with Nihan & Martin, an Omnicare Company, which provides long-term care pharmacy services. Robb received his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and his master's from Walden University.
Vice President, Government Relations
Rosener became Vice President, Government Relations in 2010 after serving as Director of Government Relations at UnityPoint Health for three years and law department attorney for four years. Prior to that, she held positions at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, Ruan Transportation and the Iowa Court of Appeals. She also served as an adjunct professor at Drake University Law School. Rosener received her bachelor's from the University of Northern Iowa and her juris doctorate, with honors, from Drake University Law School.
Vice President, Accountable Care Organization
Sharp is the Vice President of UnityPoint Accountable Care, the UnityPoint Health Accountable Care Organization (ACO). He helps lead population health initiatives across UnityPoint Health. Sharp currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Medical Group Association and its Public Policy Committee. Prior to joining UnityPoint Health, he served as the CEO of Quincy Medical Group. He has over 17 years of experience leading multispecialty group practices, is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and a Certified Medical Practice Executive. He holds a bachelor's in business administration in finance from Iowa State University and a master's degree in hospital and health administration from the University of Iowa.
Susan K. Thompson
Senior Vice President, Integration and Optimization
Thompson, MS, RN, serves as Senior Vice President of Integration and Optimization for UnityPoint Health. In this role, she partners closely with Chief Operating Officers, and other members of the senior leadership groups, to evaluate, identify and deploy initiatives that support hospitals' abilities to achieve the Triple Aim of improving care, improving the health of populations and lowering costs.
Previous to assuming this role, Thompson was the Chief Executive Officer of UnityPoint Health – Fort Dodge. She received her master's in health services management from Clarkson College.
As an active member of the Fort Dodge community, Thompson was named the 2010 Catalyst by the Greater Fort Dodge Growth Alliance, an award recognizing outstanding leadership and contributions to the community. In 2015, Thompson was named as a Commissioner to MedPAC.
David M. Williams, M.D.
President and Chief Executive Officer, UnityPoint Clinic and UnityPoint at Home
Dr. David M. Williams serves as President and Chief Executive Officer for UnityPoint Clinic and UnityPoint at Home, which together service as the ambulatory division of UnityPoint Health.
Dr. Williams is residency trained and board certified in pediatrics and has more than 18 years of clinical experience. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and completed his pediatric residency at Oregon Health Sciences University in Portland. He is a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a licensed physician and surgeon in the state of Iowa. Dr. Williams is also a graduate of the UnityPoint Health Physician Leadership Academy, the American College of Physician Executives Physician Leadership Development Program and a Certified Physician Executive. In 2017, he completed his Masters of Medical Management program at Carnegie Mellon University.
