Who we are
Psychiatrist or Nurse Practitioner
Psychiatrists and nurse practitioners are able to prescribe medications and provide ongoing medication management for diagnoses related to mental health. There may be brief psychotherapy during medication management as well as repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, if needed. Medication management visits are typically 60 minutes for new patients and 20 minutes for established patients.
Psychologist
The primary service provided by psychologists is psychological testing. This testing can be done to measure intelligence quotient (IQ) or help better determine an appropriate mental health diagnosis. In addition to testing, psychologists also perform traditional psychotherapy, but do not prescribe medication. Testing appointments are typically two hours, and traditional psychotherapy appointments are usually 60 minutes.
Therapist
Traditional psychotherapy is the primary service provided by therapists. You can expect a more conversation-based visit when you see a therapist. A therapist will discuss with you the issues that brought you to the clinic but does not prescribe medication. Traditional psychotherapy appointments are typically 60 minutes.
Specialty treatment programs
TMS
Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a non-invasive, non-drug program for adult patients who have experienced unsatisfactory results or intolerable side effects following traditional medication and therapy for treatment resistant major depressive disorder. Learn more here.
Postpartum depression
Many families expect the birth of a child and addition to their family as a time of pure joy and celebration. However, 1 in 7 women and 1 in 10 partners suffer from postpartum depression, a serious mental health condition that can lead to self harm or suicide.
