Trinity Cancer Center provides a comprehensive program that features state-of-the-art treatment and education, as well as, preventive care and early detection of cancer. Because each person is unique, every patient's treatment is individualized to treat the disease while empowering the patient. The Cancer Center features comprehensive components, which taken together, assures every patient access to care information, education and support.
Quality Cancer Treatment Services
Trinity Cancer Center is able to coordinate care for cancer patients with services available throughout Trinity Regional Medical Center. Recognizing that information is power, we provide our patients and the public with the tools for empowerment when dealing with cancer. Trinity Cancer Center is committed to providing quality cancer care for our patients, their families and the community.
Inpatient and Outpatient Cancer Services
At UnityPoint Health - Trinity, inpatient cancer services are provided on a medical unit where an interdisciplinary team continually monitor your care. Each nurse has specific education in oncology care and cancer treatment, and the interdisciplinary team reviews each patient's plan of care at regular intervals.
Trinity's Infusion Center provides care to patients receiving chemotherapy, blood products, infusion, and symptom management. Care is provided to patients in an open, airy environment by Registered Nurses with certification in oncology nursing.
Medical Oncology Services
The Board-certified medical oncologists at Trinity's Cancer Center are committed to providing premier cancer care and treatment options to fit the individual needs of our cancer patients.
Radiation Oncology Services
Trinity Cancer Center's board-certified radiation oncologists and therapists are committed to providing quality cancer care and treatment options to fit the needs of our cancer patients.
Surgical services at UnityPoint Health - Trinity include a full complement of procedures for the patient with cancer. The divisions of general, peripheral vascular, thoracic, orthopedic, otolaryngology, gynecology, urology, oral, ophthalmology, and dermatology surgeries are available to treat the patient with cancer.
Diagnostic radiological imaging, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, CT/PET Scan, MRI, mammography, and stereotactic breast biopsy are available at Trinity for the diagnosis of cancer. Multiple interventional modalities and angiography are available for the care of patients diagnosed with cancer.
UnityPoint Health - Trinity Laboratory offers a full range of diagnostic tests for patients with cancer. The pathology section of the lab interprets surgical specimens, bone marrow examinations, and cytology, including fine needle aspirations.
Cancer Prevention & Educational Programs
Trinity Cancer Center increases cancer prevention efforts through screening programs and educational opportunities. Programs and screenings are scheduled throughout the year at UnityPoint Health - Trinity and in various convenient community locations.
Trinity Cancer Registry is an integral part of the cancer program. UnityPoint Health - Trinity's concern for your health and well-being will continue after you are discharged from our care.
The purpose of the Cancer Registry is to help ensure that patients with cancer receive quality care and management of their disease. Collected information will be used to assist physicians in analyzing treatment results, planning continuous quality care, assuring lifetime patient follow-up, assisting with education and providing optimum care for the patient.
The Registry's primary responsibility is to collect, maintain and analyze data on all patients diagnosed with and or treated for cancer at Trinity. This data aids in treatment planning, staging and in assuring continuity of care for Trinity's cancer patients. Data collected includes demographics, medical history, diagnostic studies, treatment information and follow-up information. All information collected is strictly confidential.
Cancer Resource Center
Trinity's Cancer Resource Center provides patients, families and the community with accurate and reliable information about cancer treatment, cancer prevention and social support.
Care coordination is available to provide comprehensive services for cancer patients and their families. Care coordination fosters improved communication with the health care team, coordinates treatment and services, helps transition the cancer patient from one phase of care to the next, and advocates for the patient's best interests, as well as, offers cancer patients and their families confidential counseling and assistance with financial matters.
Palliative Care is available to help our patients and their families receive the best care for serious, ongoing illnesses. The team - including doctors, registered nurses, social workers and chaplains - works with the patient and doctor to address any physical, psychosocial, emotional or spiritual issues.
Home Health Care/Hospice
UnityPoint at Home and UnityPoint Hospice are available to assist families in the care of cancer patients at home. These services focus on quality of life, as well as, pain and symptom management.
At Trinity Regional Medical Center, specially trained Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants provide education, establish exercise programs and utilize manual therapy to help the lymphatic system work better.
Trinity dietitians work with cancer patients to provide individualized nutritional counseling and dietary planning.
Trinity rehabilitation professionals provide direct care to cancer patients. Services may include muscular strengthening, ambulation, transferring, and family education. The rehabilitation staff works closely with the medical and nursing staff to promote the benefits of physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and lymphedema management.
Chaplains are trained and experienced in the health care field and serve patients and families of all denominations and faiths traditions. Chaplains can help support people who may be feeling anxious or facing difficult decisions. They maintain confidentiality in relationships and are available to personally minister to patients, their families and friends.

Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Services
Trinity Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses are certified to care for cancer patients with fecal and urinary ostomies, diversions, wounds, fistulas, pressure sores, and incontinence.
Pain Management Center
Trinity Pain Management Center is dedicated to providing the best possible care for patients suffering from persistent and develops pain management plans that will enable patients to live life more comfortably.
