All scholarship applicants are reviewed by our Scholarship Committee comprised of Trinity Foundation Board Members and UnityPoint Health – Fort Dodge Team Members. Scholarship recipients are awarded based on academic merit, leadership, citizenship, career objectives, and financial need. Preference is given to qualified applicants from the eight counties (Buena Vista, Calhoun, Hamilton, Humboldt, Pocahontas, Sac, Webster, and Wright) served by UnityPoint Health – Fort Dodge. Trinity Foundation awards the following health care scholarships annually:
Lores Coulson Scholarship
Applicants for the Lores Coulson Scholarship must be a UnityPoint Health employee with a minimum of three years’ employment at UnityPoint Health – Fort Dodge. Available to both full and part-time students. Must be pursuing a degree from an accredited college/university with a formal degree program.
Dr. Arch S. and Leon McMillen Scholarship
McMillen Scholarship is provided through the estate of Leone McMillen in memory of her husband Dr. Arch S. McMillen, a longtime Fort Dodge physician. Preference in awarding the scholarship is given to individuals who have completed the nursing program at Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) and are seeking their BSN or an advanced nursing degree at an accredited educational institution. Nursing students enrolled in the ICCC nursing program may also submit applications. This scholarship is available to both part-time and full-time students.
Tom and Margaret Welch Scholarship
The Tom and Margaret Welch Scholarship was established in 1997. The scholarship is awarded to students who are certified nurse’s aide or other health workers who are working towards obtaining an associate Degree in Nursing with a career goal of becoming an RN. The scholarship is available to both part-time and full-time students.
Roselpha Lovrien Nursing Scholarship
The Roselpha Lovrien Nursing Scholarship was established in 1996 through the estate of Roselpha Lovrien. Preference in awarding this scholarship is given to individuals who have completed the nursing program at Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) and are seeking an advanced nursing degree at an accredited educational institution. Nursing students enrolled in the ICCC nursing program may also submit applications.
Arthur Moeller Nursing Scholarship
The Arthur Moeller Scholarship provides a scholarship to a deserving ICCC nursing student or a student seeking an advanced nursing degree in an accredited program. The scholarship fund was established in 1991 in memory and honor of Arthur Moeller for the many years of service he gave to Trinity Regional Medical Center and the Oleson Foundation. This scholarship is available to both part- and full-time students at ICCC.
Dr. Clyde A. Lindquist Scholarship
The Dr. Clyde A. Lindquist Scholarship will be awarded to an individual who has been accepted or is enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited higher education program, majoring in a health science field. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible. The Lindquist Scholarship was established in 1989 as a perpetual memorial to Dr. Lindquist, a physician and Trinity Regional Medical Center emergency department director who died in a plane crash in September 1988.
Ann & Andrea Lockner Nursing Scholarship
The Ann and Andrea Lockner Scholarship is awarded in memory of Ann Lockner, R.N., and her daughter Andrea. Ann graduated from Iowa Central Community College in 1973. Ann worked at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge for over 48 years in a variety of nursing settings. She retired in 2022. Ann spent her life caring for others and was a kind and positive mentor to many healthcare professionals. She inspired many to become better caregivers and nurses. Applicants must be enrolled in the Iowa Central Community College (ICCC) Nursing Program and live in the 8-county region.
Caring for Our Future Scholarship
UnityPoint Health – Fort Dodge nurses and employees recognize the importance of supporting individuals entering the nursing profession. The Caring for Our Future Scholarship was created to assist the next generation of nurses and to foster entry level nursing education, as well as advanced nursing degrees. This scholarship is made possible by employee donations. Direct care nurses, who are members of the Nursing Shared Governance Council, IGNITE, facilitate this scholarship and review all applications.
