UnityPoint Health- Meriter offers local high school students who are going into the healthcare industry the opportunity to apply for financial assistance through the Healthcare Scholarship Program. We started this program in 1987, the same year that Madison General and Methodist Hospital merged to become Meriter. In just 34 years, 656 scholarships, totaling more than $727,000 have been awarded to local high school seniors pursing higher education in healthcare.
This program is made possible through donations and the generous support from the amazing staff at Meriter's Greenbush Garden Bistro and Dr. Joe's Coffee Clinic. These individuals diligently promote the program year-round and encourage donations from visitors, staff, patients and community members. If you are interested in supporting this program you may also make a donation through the Meriter Foundation.
How to Apply
The application deadline has passed. Please check back in January of 2022 to apply for next year's program.
Congratulations to this year's 39 recipients. Our program had lower funding this year due to COVID-19 closures in 2020. Thanks to the support of UnityPoint Health- Meriter Foundation's diversity initiatives we were able to give out an even higher number of scholarships this year. We are proud to support these local high school seniors as they pursue their healthcare career goals.
Applicants are encouraged to reach out directly to their high school Guidance Counselor with any questions or contact UnityPoint Health – Meriter Volunteer Services at (608) 417-6414 or via email at MSN_volunteer@unitypoint.org. Parental inquiries are not advised.
