Our psychiatrists and psychologist have experience with many different conditions that affect people at many ages and in many walks of life, including:

  • Depression
  • Mood disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Addictive disorders
  • Specific conditions such as schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder
  • Dementia disorders that primarily affect older adults

We welcome you as a patient and appreciate you choosing Penn Mental Health for your care.  We will strive to maintain the confidence you have placed in us.  We always welcome your comments and feedback on the services you receive.

Your Initial Visit

Your first visit to our clinic will include an evaluation by a board-certified psychiatrist or PhD psychologist.  Please allow 1 hour for your first visit in our office.  At the end of the session, you will be informed of our recommendations for treatment, including the possibility of medication and/or psychotherapy (counseling).  We will work with your primary care physician, upon proper release of information, to coordinate your treatment.

We ask that you arrive to your first appointment 15-20 minutes early to complete the required paperwork.  Please bring your insurance card with you to the appointment along with a photo ID.

Office Hours

Our office phone number is (515) 263-5000.  Phone calls are answered during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday by our office staff.  Our office remains open during the lunch hour.  All calls after regular business hours are received by the answering service.  After hour emergent calls will be directed to the physician on call.

Our psychiatrists divide their time in the office with taking care of their hospitalized patients at Iowa Lutheran Hospital so office hours for our psychiatrists do vary.
