Wash Your Hands
Pandemic shows importance of handwashing
The COVID-19 pandemic has reinforced the importance of handwashing. Washing hands is an easy and effective way to prevent illness and the spread of infection. Studies show handwashing can prevent 1 in 3 diarrhea-related sicknesses and 1 in five respiratory infections such as a cold or flu.
Germs spread when people touch their eyes, nose and mouth without realizing it and that how germs can get into the body. Germs from unwashed hands can get into food and drink while people prepare or consume them. Germs can be transferred to other objects, like handrails, tabletops, door knobs, toys and then transferred to a person's hands. Removing germs with handwashing helps prevent respiratory infections and illnesses.
