UnityPoint Health is proud to have three of its cancer care facilities earn the prestigious national accreditation for exceptional breast cancer care.

The Helen G. Nassif Community Cancer Center (Cedar Rapids, IA), UnityPoint Health – John Stoddard Cancer Center (Des Moines, IA) and Trinity Cancer Center (Moline, IL) have all earned accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. All three facilities have been accredited for more than a decade and are among a select group across Iowa and Illinois to earn accreditation.

“We are proud to have three of our cancer facilities nationally recognized for providing high-quality, research-based breast cancer care,” said Gregory R. Johnson, MD, SFHM, UnityPoint Health Chief Medical Officer. “This recognition is a testament to the expertise of our care teams and their commitment to providing an exceptional experience to our patients and their families each and every day.”

Programs accredited by the NAPBC meet high standards for comprehensive cancer services including prevention, screening, treatment and survivorship. To earn accreditation, facilities must undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of its performance.

During the survey process, the center must demonstrate compliance with the standards established by the NABPC for treating women who are diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease. The standards include proficiency in leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement. A facility that achieves NABPC accreditation has demonstrated a firm commitment to offer its patients every advantage in their battle against breast disease.

Additionally, UnityPoint Health offers advanced cancer care using the latest treatments and clinical research at the following facilities across Iowa:
