UnityPoint Health – Eyerly Ball To Build New Facility Across From Iowa Lutheran Hospital

Dec 12, 2023

UnityPoint Health - Des Moines is excited to announce the construction of a new Eyerly Ball – Des Moines facility. The certified community mental health clinic will be located across the street from Iowa Lutheran Hospital on Pennsylvania avenue in Des Moines and is set to open early 2025.

“The new UnityPoint Health Eyerly Ball – Des Moines facility with its proximity to Iowa Lutheran Hospital and the UnityPoint Clinic Behavioral Health Urgent Care – Des Moines will enable us to continue growing our services to meet the mental health needs of central Iowa. Since the beginning, we have focused on providing an environment conducive to healing and we know this new facility will allow us to provide a healing environment for even more clients,” says Cynthia Steidl Bishop, CEO, UnityPoint Health – Eyerly Ball.

As one of the largest mental health centers in Iowa, UnityPoint Health – Eyerly Ball has provided outpatient, residential and community mental health services in central Iowa for more than 50 years. This new 15,000-square-foot patient-facing mental health facility will enable Eyerly Ball to continue focusing on the growing mental health needs of our community and state.

“This is truly an exciting time for us as we continue to focus on our overall commitment to serving the mental health needs of our community for decades to come,” says Steidl Bishop.

The construction of the new UnityPoint Health Eyerly Ball – Des Moines facility, with a total cost of approximately $10.4 million, has seen remarkable commitment, with $4.4 million in grants already secured from the Polk County Board of Supervisors and State of Iowa. With this significant support, we are now launching a fundraising campaign to realize the full vision of the project. Donor contributions will play a vital role in completing the facility and providing a full continuum of mental health services in one location. To learn more about supporting this project, visit One Place For Care - Campaign
