Lymphedema Therapy in Dubuque
Lymphedema is chronic swelling that results from damage to the lymphatic system. The lymphatic system helps the immune system by filtering excess fluid through lymph nodes to remove bacteria and debris. When the system is damaged, lymphedema can occur due to fluid building up under the skin, usually in the arms and legs. It can arise after treatment for cancer, venous insufficiency, infection, surgery or due to trauma/injury.
Our therapists are certified lymphedema therapists who provide non-invasive lymphedema therapy to patients of Dubuque and the surrounding tri-state area. Treatment includes manual lymphatic drainage, exercises and compression wrapping to help reduce swelling and return skin to a more normal condition. Therapists also teach the patient/family/caregiver how to apply treatment at home.
