Medical Weight Loss Clinic & Health One Program
"No matter what your weight loss goal is, even a modest weight loss, such as 5 to 10 percent of your total body weight, is likely to produce health benefits, such as improvements in blood
pressure, blood cholesterol, blood sugars and sleep apnea."
Prasuna Rao Madhavaram, MD, UnityPoint Clinic
Obesity is a medical condition which may have an adverse effect on your health, leading to reduced quality of life and increased health problems. Obesity and increased central fat increases the risk of developing diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis and certain types of cancers.
In the Medical Weight Loss Clinic, Dr. Rao evaluates and treats individuals struggling with weight related issues. During your first visit she will evaluate for causes of weight gain and help you determine a program to best fit your needs.
Dr. Rao will provide care during and after weight loss. Close monitoring and lab work will help ensure you are medically stable. She will adjust medications as necessary, including those for blood pressure and diabetes.
Modest Weight Loss Can Mean Big Benefits
Losing weight is not easy and takes commitment. Research shows those who maintain a significant weight loss report improvements in not only their physical health, but also their energy levels, physical mobility, general mood and self-confidence.
Lifestyle changes, such as new eating habits and increased physical activity, will help you lose weight and maintain your weight loss over time.
The Medical Weight Loss Clinic encourages patients to participate in the Health One program. The Health One program combines a complete meal replacement product with support for your greatest chance of success. Patients may also be referred to other services as deemed appropriate by Dr. Rao.
There are no restrictions on weight or BMI to be seen in the Medical Weight Loss Clinic but an established primary care physician is required. If you and your doctor feel weight loss will help, you may request an appointment.
