About Zoe Townsend, CAPSW, CSAC
Biography
Addictions and Behavioral Health Therapist
Nice to meet you – I'm Zoe, a Certified Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW) and Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) dedicated to providing person centered, strengths-based care to adults with substance use and mental health concerns.
I began working in the substance use field while studying to obtain my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Since then, I have expanded to work with co-occurring mental health conditions. In particular, I have experience working with mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety, and ADHD.
I bring a trauma-informed approach to my work with a strong emphasis on harm reduction. I primarily use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) in my practice, but the focus will always be on what works best for you as the patient.
I want to support and empower my patients to achieve the life they want to live while respecting their unique life stories and experiences. Recovery is a process, and I strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment to explore what recovery looks like for you.
Outside of work, I can usually be found with my family, two dogs, and two cats. I enjoy hiking, yoga, reading, and a good meal.
