About Marc Molis, MD
Biography
Marc Molis, MD, FAAFP, is board-certified in Family Medicine and is a Fellow with the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has a love for the performing arts as well as athletes, and enjoys working with dance medicine, musicians, singers, and theater arts. Dr. Molis is also well versed in hypermobility disorders and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) and is a local resource who works with those patients and helps manage their condition. Dr. Molis also has a love for martial arts, achieving his 3rd don Black Belt in Taekwondo, was an instructor at Farrell's Martial arts for four years, and even completed at Taekwondo Nationals in 2019, winning a bronze medal in sparring and a silver medal in board breaking. Lastly, Dr. Molis in an expert in concussions, taking care of patients and lecturing throughout the Des Moines region on concussions including students at Des Moines University (DMU) over 15 years.
When not in the clinic, Dr. Molis serves on the boards of Ballet Des Moines (and has been since 2014) and the Urbandale Performing Arts Booster Club. He is active in the Des Moines sports community, as a 2nd Dan black belt in Taekwondo and an instructor at Farrells Martial Arts. He participates in tournaments regularly and won bronze and silver medals in sparring and board breaking at USA nationals in 2019. He is a YMCA and USA certified swim official, a former Cub Scout Den leader, and a basketball coach.
Here are some additional career highlights for Dr. Molis:
- Dr. Molis received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School and completed his sports medicine fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
- Completed his residency with the Hinsdale Family Practice Residency Program and an internship with Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
- Is a faculty member at Blank Children's Hospital where he helps to teach residents and is also on the faculty at the University of Iowa. Dr. Molis has also taught medical students from DMU since 2009, and you will often see a few in clinic with him!
- Has experience in performance medicine (previously worked with the Milwaukee Ballet and was on the board of Ballet Des Moines for 8 years).
- Dr. Molis currently provides his services to Simpson College, where he has been one of the team's physicians since 2008! He previously covered the Des Moines Buccaneers for 18 years, just recently covering his last game in 2026. He also has previous experience with the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team.
- Contributes to many sports medicine articles and books including an area that he specializes in - asthma, allergies and the athlete.
- Lectures on concussions locally and for Des Moines University.
- Was named a 2008 Des Moines Top Doctor by DSM Magazine.
- Hobbies and interests include: reading, travel season ticket holder at Des Moines Civic Center.
