Biography

As a PMHNP, I embrace the responsibility of not only treating symptoms but also empowering individuals to achieve meaningful and sustainable recovery when managing their mental health. With a background rooted in nursing and a deep-seated passion for psychiatric care, I have developed a deep empathy and understanding of the complexities that shape each patient's unique journey. When working with my patients, their families and other interdisciplinary team members, I prioritize building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, respect and open communication.

Why did you become a provider?
My decision to specialize as a PMHNP was influenced by my experiences as a registered nurse, where I encountered patients whose mental health needs were often overlooked or misunderstood. Becoming a PMHNP represented an opportunity for me to advance my clinical expertise, deepen my understanding of psychiatric disorders and continue to contribute to patient care at a higher level.

Why did you decide to join UnityPoint Health?
I decided to join UnityPoint Health and Black Hawk-Grundy Mental Health Center because of all the community outreach they are involved in.
