About Jenna Walstead
Biography
As an Addiction Care Coordinator, I am dedicated to helping patients in the hospital and at the NewStart outpatient clinic with finding resources and treatment options that can help with treating Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders. An individual’s mental health and substance use can be influenced in many ways, which is why I work to provide resource options in hopes that it helps improve the patient’s situation to be able to live a more positive and self-sufficient life.
I have been a part of UnityPoint Health Meriter’s organization for over 13 years and started in the hospital’s Emergency Room. After 5 years, I made the transition to the NewStart Clinic where I learned so much about our patients who are struggling with the disease of addiction that I wanted to do more and help clients in a different way. I returned to school to obtain my Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor license and am continuing to further my education as well as continuing to learn from our patients.
One of the things I appreciate the most about UPH Meriter NewStart is that we are a harm reduction-based clinic – we want to help you improve the areas of your life that you identify as being problematic, we are not here to push but are here to help support and guide you to be able to achieve your goals. Your health and wellbeing are our goal and we can’t wait to get to know you!
Addiction Care Coordinators provide personalized, compassionate support to help you address barriers to recovery and connect with vital resources in the community. Please see the Continuing Care drop-down menu under the “Additional Services at NewStart”.
