Biography

Cody Samec is a licensed mental health counselor. He earned his Bachelor’s degrees in Criminology & Criminal Justice and Human Services from Buena Vista University and Master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from Drake University. Cody has more than 10 years’ experience working with individuals in a variety of settings including in the home, outpatient services, and those involved in the criminal justice system. Cody believes change is possible with encouragement and positive support. He takes an eclectic approach with clients, which includes Strength Based and Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic approaches. Cody seeks to create an open and therapeutic environment with new and ongoing clients so that everyone feels heard and their needs addressed. Cody is an Intake Therapist working with clients in a collaborative, supportive way with individual needs identified, and appropriate resources offered. His practice location is the Eyerly Ball Community Mental Health Center – Cropp Clinic in Des Moines.
