Anita Gul, MD

Anita Gul, MD is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist who provides compassionate, personalized cancer care grounded in both advanced research and real-world community practice. She has cared for patients in academic centers, VA hospitals and community cancer programs across the country. Importantly for patients in this region, Dr. Gul previously practiced at the VA Medical Center in Sioux Falls for nearly three years, where she treated veterans and families from across South Dakota, northwest Iowa and surrounding rural communities. During this time, she developed a strong understanding of the healthcare needs, values and challenges unique to Midwestern patients — including the importance of clear communication, access to care close to home and treatment plans tailored to each person’s life, not just their diagnosis. Dr. Gul completed her fellowship training in Hematology and Oncology at Stony Brook University Medical Center and pursued additional training in Experimental Therapeutics at the Cleveland Clinic. She has also served on the faculty at the University of Minnesota and most recently, practiced at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, caring for patients in a community-based oncology setting. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Gul has published research in leading oncology journals, including the “Journal of Clinical Oncology,” and is an active member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. Dr. Gul is committed to delivering personalized, compassionate care and believes patients should have access to state-of-the-art treatments close to home. She understands that every patient is unique and is dedicated to developing individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s specific needs and goals. Dr. Gul partners closely with patients, their family members, and the broader care team, and strongly believes in incorporating patients’ wishes and values into every treatment decision.
