UnityPoint Health - Meriter Named to Newsweek Excellence 1000 Index
Dec 12, 2023UnityPoint Health – Meriter was recently included in Newsweek’s Excellence 1000 Index, ranking #117 out of 1,000 U.S. companies and #2 in the Hospitals category.
The Excellence 1000 index presents 1000 companies that have demonstrated best practices in and a commitment to social responsibility, environmental sustainability and patient experience. The list is comprised of companies across 25 industries and 100 categories.
Data was gathered from Indeed, Glassdoor and Facebook to garner employee and patient feedback. Healthcare data sources included HospitalCompare, a search engine that allows users to search and compare healthcare options near them, the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare (CMS) and the American Hospital Association.
UnityPoint Health – Meriter is joined on the list by other regional and national healthcare systems and hospitals, some of which include, St. Jude's Children’s Research Hospital, Stanford Health Care and Mayo Clinic.

In 2023, UnityPoint Health – Meriter was awarded a 5-star rating by CMS, received a Partner for Change award by Practice Green Health, designated as a Baby-Friendly Hospital and named a Best Hospital for Maternity Care for 2024 by U.S. News and World Report.
