Family Health Classes - Madison

We believe each birth is a special event! To help you prepare for childbirth and parenting through the first year, we offer a variety of classes and new parent groups to educate and support all families. Classes currently being offered:

Class Offerings

Individual Classes
  • Preparing for Childbirth: Information all about labor and birth.
  • Basics of Infant Care: Helps prepare you for your baby's first hours in the hospital through their first few weeks at home.
  • Basics of Breastfeeding: An experienced breastfeeding educator will prepare you to breastfeed in the early days and weeks after your baby is born.
  • Breastfeeding: Home, Pump, Work: An experienced breastfeeding educator will teach you how to provide milk to your baby after you return home and as you prepare to return to activities, work or school.
Specialty Classes/Groups
  • Expecting Multiples: Covers specific issues related to multiples, including birthing, caring for premature infants and adjustments for your family
  • Water Birth: An expert childbirth educator discusses the benefits of and guidelines for having a water birth.
  • Grandparenting: This class is designed for grandparents and grandparents-to-be (first-time or just in need of a refresher).
  • Sensational Siblings: Welcoming a New Baby: This special class will help prepare your older child for what to expect with the arrival of a new baby.
  • Cloth Diapers Unwrapped: This class is perfect for new or expecting parents who want to learn all about cloth diapers.
  • Meriter Baby Hour (0-9 months): A free in-person opportunity to connect with other parents who have a new baby at home.
  • Babywearing 101: This class discusses how to wear your baby safely and explores the different types of baby carriers you can choose from.
  • Mindful Birth and Baby: This interactive class is for parents who want a calm and connected approach to childbirth and early parenting

Please click on the class names above to see available dates and register. We suggest you take our prenatal classes between weeks 24 and 35 of your pregnancy. 

Any time you are around other people, you may be exposed to illness.

Health & Safety Information

Please only choose in-person classes or groups if you meet all of the following
  • You are comfortable with the risk of being exposed to illness, and 
  • You are up-to-date with your vaccinations, and 
  • You do not have an illness that makes it easier for you to get sick (immunocompromised) 
You may not attend class in-person if
  • You test positive for COVID within 10 days of class, or 
  • You have been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID or the Flu within 10 days of class, or 
  • You have cold or flu symptoms like a fever, stuffiness, runny nose, sneezing, coughing, sore throat, headache, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, body aches or chills. 

Masking at the Jeff Levy Education Center is optional. 

If you are unable to take our in-person offerings due to any of the conditions listed, we highly recommend you register for our live-virtual classes and groups.
