Child Protection Center
A child who is a victim of abuse suffers in darkness. But with your
support and care from the St. Luke's Child Protection Center (CPC), they
have a promise of a better tomorrow.
The CPC opened in 1987 and served 300 children from three counties in
its first year. Today the Center provides approximately 1,200 services
annually to children from over 40 Iowa counties. To date, more than
25,000 services have been provided to children who have used the CPC.
St. Luke's Board of Directors agreed from the CPC's inception that
every child will be helped, regardless of the ability of parents or
guardians to pay. It costs on average up to $1,000 to provide services
to one child. The CPC is reimbursed by the state for a little over $500,
leaving a large annual deficit. Donations enable the CPC to continue
its critical support to abused children.
