About This ProviderPrint

Why did you become a provider?

I figured out I wanted to become a nurse practitioner when I was in undergrad. As a CNA, I learned the value of caring for others in need and then as I worked as a nurse, I took an interest in helping develop treatment plans for patients based on their assessment and diagnosis. I enjoy taking the time to establish relationships with my patients and be able to positively impact their overall quality of life one way or another.

As a provider, what is your medical philosophy?

I believe that healthcare involves a collaborative approach. I feel strongly that in order for a patient to be satisfied with their overall health, there needs to be shared-decision making and a trusting relationship.

What type of care/clinical interests are you most passionate about?

I am very passionate about the geriatric population. I was very close to my grandmother who had struggled with dementia and reflect often on our relationship. As she aged, it was very eye opening to recognize how seriously this population needs us to advocate for them to receive the care they need.

Why did you choose your specialty?

I chose to specialize in family medicine because I like the variety it offers! I like that I will be able to care for newborns through 100+ years old and appreciate the challenge that comes along with that responsibility.

What qualities best describe the care you provide your patients?

I am a very compassionate person and enjoy investing my time in helping others. I am approachable and willing to listen to what my patient's need to help them achieve their health goals. I want to help motivate my patients, take the time to answer their questions, and provide the resources they need to feel confident they can succeed.

Being a healthcare provider, what motivates you each day?

Seeing my patients take in interest in their health helps motivate me each day. I really enjoy getting to know my patients on a more personal level to help support them with lifestyle choices and healthcare decision making. Health education is very important to me so I encourage my patients to ask questions and let me know what I can do to help build their knowledge base.

What is the most important thing patients should know about you and your practice?

I am originally from Waterloo and look forward to relocating back to the community!
