Allen College Named to President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll with Distinction

Allen College - UnityPoint Health Logo

Allen College has been named to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the sixth consecutive year.

Allen College was named to the 2015 honor roll based on the service hours and activities performed during the 2013-2014 academic school year. During that academic year, 456 of the 575 enrolled students were engaged in community service activities for a total of 6,866 hours. Allen College submitted three community service-learning projects for award consideration: Allen College's Nurse Run Free Clinic in Partnership with the Salvation Army (ACE-SAP), Partnering for Education with Junior Achievement, and Partnering to Increase Literacy: Reading Buddy Program.

The President’s Honor Roll is the highest federal recognition an institution of higher education can receive for its community service work. CNCS is a federal agency that engages more than 5 million Americans in service through AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, the Social Innovation Fund, and the Volunteer Generation Fund, and leads the President’s national call to service initiative, United We Serve.
