UnityPoint Health – Allen Hospital has been recognized by Premier Inc. for reducing preventable hospital-acquired conditions (HACs) and readmissions, as part of their participation during the federal Partnership for Patients (PfP) Hospital Engagement Network 2.0 initiative.

During the national HEN 2.0 initiative, Premier’s HEN worked with more than 450 hospitals to meet goals in 11 harm areas and make improvement in 30-day readmissions.

As a member of Premier’s HEN, Allen Hospital is one of 22 hospitals to receive the Premier Partnership for Patients HEN 2.0 Award for being in the top 10 percent of HEN 2.0 hospitals for total score based on the 11 harm areas. Allen Hospital was recognized during Premier’s annual Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition in Washington D.C.

“Participation in this initiative reinforces our commitment to reliably deliver the best care experience to our community,” said Wanda Miller, Quality Improvement supervisor at Allen Hospital. “We’re proud to receive the Premier Partnership for Patients HEN 2.0 Award as we continue down our path of reducing HACs and readmissions.”

“Allen Hospital is a prime example of performance improvement in healthcare,” said Roshni Ghosh MD, vice president of government services, chief medical information officer, Premier. “Through commitment, transparency, trust and engagement they are collaborating with peers to create a culture of safe, reliable and coordinated care. We are constantly amazed by these accomplishments. Premier congratulates everyone at Allen Hospital for their hard work and tremendous achievements.”

In the fall of 2016, Premier was named as one of 16 Hospital Improvement Innovation Networks (HIINs) to continue the work of the national Partnership for Patients initiative and the success of its HEN. The Premier HIIN has a large national footprint and is currently working collaboratively with more than 465 hospitals and health systems across 40 states in an iterative journey to improve the delivery of safe, reliable care for every patient, every time.
