St. Luke's Children's Miracle Network Starts Its Engines.

null

Well, folks, it’s official. St. Luke’s Children’s Miracle Network is grabbing life by the handlebars this year.

We have never been more proud to announce our very own Sioux City chapter of the Miracle Riders, a group originally formed six years ago to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. During that time, the riders have raised over $1 million for the kids, powering their motorcycles in and around the continuous 48 states. Sioux City has been a watering hole for the Miracle Riders on more than one occasion, and each time, the Riders have made a point to visit with the staff and kids at the hospital.

It’s an honor to continue this amazing legacy to benefit our Siouxland kids.

At our press conference launching the event, Scott Ressmeyer, founder of the Ride for Miracles, talked about why the event is important and how it has become both a local and national rallying cry for community hospitals. We are fortunate enough to have already recruited two Riders for the event, Matt Thompson, a UnityPoint Health Foundation Board Member and Vice President at Klinger, and Jim Symons, owner of Sharky’s Construction. We are looking for five more brave, compassionate souls to join them.

Be a Miracle Rider.

There is nothing about being a Miracle Rider that is easy, and that is by design. From the $50,000 fundraising goal to the 6,000-mile route around the five Great Lakes starting on September 19, 2016, Miracle Riders will constantly be reminded that while they have a hard road ahead, the sick children and the parents and hospital staff who care for them have a harder one. And they will keep raising money and awareness with every mile they put under their tires.

In keeping with the original Ride for Miracles, the Miracle Riders on this tour will visit Children’s Miracle Network hospitals and children en route, blogging about their progress along the way.

We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we also have made substantial progress already. A big thank you to the efforts of several community partners who have helped us spread awareness and increase our ability to connect our fundraiser to the people who can help and the people we can help.

We will continue to have several sponsorship opportunities available, whether you are a local business or a member of our compassionate and close-knit community. Whether you pledge by mile or by smile, every dollar is appreciated.

Now is the perfect time to be a third wheel! By donating, following, sharing, and cheering the riders (and the kids!) on, you, too, can grab life by the handlebars, and help Children’s Miracle Network meet this worthy fundraising goal.
