Volunteer as a Santa's House Chair Person

We are looking for amazing people to join us in the planning and execution of this year’s 31st Annual Santa’s House— an amazing and exciting tradition bringing holiday cheer to children throughout Siouxland! If you are interested in volunteering as a chair person, please review the information and expectations of the position below and sign up by August 31, 2019. If you are interested in volunteering as a general volunteer for Santa’s House— stay tuned! We’ll let you know when we’re looking later this year.

Description of Position

A chair person would aid 11 other chair persons in planning and executing Santa’s House. They will be expected to attend Santa’s House on nights and weekends that it is open and participate in post-operation clean-ups. They will be engaging with the public and children that visit Santa’s House to create an environment that is fun, exciting, and family-friendly.

Chair persons will attend planning meetings. These planning meetings are monthly one-hour meetings each. Planning meetings are the exchange and brainstorming of ideas for Santa’s House activities, set up, and implementation of ideas to make for an awesome year for Santa’s House where we can let kids have fun and make sure they know just how much they matter to this world.

Each chair person will oversee owning their own specific area of Santa’s House. They will be designated a specific area/section of Santa’s House to coordinate and implement the various aspects of the area that they are in. This includes generating ideas for the area, implementing the ideas, and setting up the venue, and being on site.

Santa’s House chair volunteers need to be physically involved in the set up of Santa’s House and able to stand for long periods of time. When setting up Santa’s House on the open nights and weekends, there will be lifting, bending, and carrying of potentially heavy objects.

Why Should I Volunteer?

Volunteering for Santa’s House can bring many benefits. These include being able to earn volunteer hours that can be put towards various programs accepting of them— including OnPoint for Health for team members.

Santa’s House is an established Siouxland event that has been a major fundraiser in raising money for the St. Luke’s Partners to give back to the organization. Proceeds benefit the many projects of UnityPoint Health® – St. Luke’s Partners including St. Luke’s College, St. Luke’s Children’s Miracle Network and more! Since 1989, Santa’s House has raised over $346,000 to benefit Siouxland! Help be a part of creating a better, more amazing community.
