null

The 7th Annual Pink in the Rink brought in a record breaking crowd of 4,113 people and raised nearly $47,000 for breast cancer education and awareness in Siouxland. Held during a Sioux City Musketeers’ home game, the event raises funds for UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Imaging and Breast Screening Services and Susan G. Komen Siouxland Affiliate.

“Many of us have been personally impacted by breast cancer, whether through a loved one, friend or neighbor who has battled the disease,” says Rich Zaber, Executive Vice President of the Sioux City Musketeers. “The Sioux City Musketeers are pleased to show our support for breast cancer survivors and those currently fighting the disease. And, we thank everyone for their generous support of Pink in the Rink. Through awareness and education, we will stop breast cancer in its tracks.”

Hosted by UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Foundation and Susan G. Komen for the Cure Siouxland Affiliate, Pink in the Rink raises funds through the sale of t-shirts, tickets and pink ducks. In addition, dollars are raised during a jersey auction following the Musketeers’ game. Proceeds are split evenly between UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s Imaging and Breast Screening Services and Susan G. Komen Siouxland Affiliate.

An estimated 232,670 cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in U.S. women in 2014. There are more than 2.8 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S.

This event was sponsored by Pierce Same Day Surgery, Siouxland Obstetrics & Gynecology, WinnaVegas Casino & Resort, Midlands Clinic, Absolute Screen Art, Sioux City Journal, Clear Channel, and ABC9 News.
