The Board of Directors of UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s and UnityPoint Health announce the appointment of Lynn Wold as St. Luke’s President and Chief Executive Officer, effective June 1, 2015.
Wold replaces current President and CEO Peter Thoreen who has led St. Luke’s for the last 12 years and will be retiring from UnityPoint Health at the end of 2015.

Wold has 24 years of experience in health care administration, most recently serving as Chief Operating Officer for St. Luke’s, a position he has held since 2008. From July 2014 until early 2015, Wold served as Interim President at St. Luke’s while current President and CEO Peter Thoreen assumed a dual capacity role as Interim CEO of UnityPoint Health – Meriter in Madison, Wisconsin.
During his tenure at St. Luke’s, Wold has been instrumental in physician alignment and integrated business models including the launch of Pierce Street Same Day Surgery, a hospital and independent physician joint venture, in the expansion of urgent care in Sioux City and the collaboration and advancement of the cardiology service line. Wold represents the Sioux City region on various system initiatives within UnityPoint Health.
A North Dakota native, Wold held management positions with a rural hospital, an ambulatory surgery center and a multi-specialty group physician practice all located in southeast North Dakota prior to joining St. Luke’s.
Wold earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Business and Health Care Administration from North Dakota State University and Concordia College in Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, Minnesota respectively. He completed the Executive Leadership Academy through UnityPoint Health and will soon complete a Master of Science in Health Services Administration from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota.
Wold is actively involved in the community, currently serving on the Board of Directors for the June E. Nylen Cancer Center, Siouxland Paramedics, Hospice of Siouxland and Ronald McDonald House Charities. He is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
